Swedish Stockings

Swedish Stockings opens its New York pop-up store at 251 Elizabeth Street in Nolita on October 7, and keeps the doors open for twelve days.

The brand was started in Sweden in 2013 by Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg, on the back of a number that bothered them: roughly eight billion pairs of tights are made and thrown away every year, most of them after barely any wear. Their answer was hosiery built to last - tights, socks, knee-highs, stay-ups and bodywear knitted from recycled nylon in family-owned factories in Castel Goffredo in northern Italy, where the mills run on their own wind and solar power and reuse half the water used in dyeing. Through Re:Cycle, the brand takes back worn-out tights from anywhere in the world and turns them into furniture and art rather than landfill.

What to expect: the latest collections, the icon styles the brand is known for, and special pieces, all there to be seen, held and tried rather than guessed at from a size chart. The brand has also promised something extra for opening day.
