Ashley Pollack and Claire Webb present a collection of new and collaborative work transforming unconventional metals and waste material into objects of wonder, exploring the aesthetic potentialities of embedded and fused materials. Ashley Nettye Pollack Ashley Nettye Pollack (she/her) received an MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2021. Now based in Brooklyn, Ashley maintains a studio practice where, utilizing primarily post-consumer and ethically sourced gemstones, she combines her own custom-made alloys with alternative metals to fabricate captivating surfaces by harnessing metal's liquid/solid states, evoking alchemical processes. Her work has been exhibited internationally, most recently at Talente - Masters of the Future 2023 during Munich Jewelry Week as well as locally during multiple NYCJW iterations. In addition to her studio practice, Ashley holds a GIA Graduate Gemologist certification, which she employs along with her experience working under master goldsmiths in NYC to create one-of-a-kind and custom fine jewelry. Claire Webb Claire Webb (she/her) is currently Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the University of Oregon in Eugene. She received an MFA from SUNY New Paltz in 2021. Her research utilizes the expressive potential of unexpected material combinations and transformations to examine fundamental human needs and desires. Claire has shown work with a number of institutions including Galerie Lewis in Quebec, New York City Jewelry Week, Baltimore Jewelry Center, Brooklyn Metal Works, Melton Gallery, and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston.
