Presence in Bed, May 20-25, invites viewers for an exclusive, immersive experience that puts the physical and digital in dialogue through a site-specific, fabric reactive, mattress installation tied to a grounding, spiritual journey in Virtual Reality. Designed by award-winning, spatial designer Annabelle Schneider, the show explores an immersive digital reality as a spiritual media that gently triggers introspection, uncovering a universe that represents human bodily traces that act as reminders to be present in the now. Blood, hair, skin, sweat and bacteria are all associated with voice affirmations in the VR and an evocative sound designed for a grounding, spiritual experience that reminds us to be present.

In this era of instability and constant change, the bed manifests itself as the place of collapse but also as the essential place to reconnect to the self. Viewers can climb the spatial installation designed with Casper's latest mattress model "The Casper" and immerse into a physically woven landscape of metallic emergency foil allowing for choreographed touch-points of temperature-reactive sheets, acting as a canvas to capture the presence of absence. Digital human traces are made permanent through skin-rubbed, tactile image transfers on pillows. Hand-woven emergency foils also act as protection capes for body and space, adjusting to a comforting temperature while combining these natural traces with otherworldly visions. Presence In Bed is in partnership with PARSONS, Casper and NYCxDESIGN Week.
