GAG is pleased to present Chase Wheeler's first solo show with the Gallery: BUY/SELL - a special format exhibition calling to question market formalities within today's art world. A self mockery in a way, the artworks of BUY/SELL have already been claimed, purchased, resold and now re-offered by the Gallery as investment opportunities. The paintings have been tweaked endlessly through a brazen layering of visual information. A confusing and hectic combination of photographic imagery, strictly formalist color and a de-skilled intermingling of automatic drawing are meant to prolong viewing time and keep the image afloat longer than a trending instagram post. Chase Wheeler (b. 1995) is an artist working in Brooklyn, NY. He has worked with artists Emily Jacir and William Kentridge and holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.
