Press release follows:
Parasol Projects is pleased to present “BOWERY BABE”, the second solo show of photographer Liv Hoffman (b. 1997). The pop-up exhibition will open on Thursday, July 14th with an opening night reception at night and will remain on view through Sunday, July 17th. The gallery space is located on the Bowery, one of the most diverse and eccentric neighborhoods of Manhattan, on the edges of the Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Nolita.
“BOWERY BABE” will feature Liv Hoffman’s new body of work including black and white and color portraits and street photography. It will also include her most recent work, the Blue Milk series along with a video projection in collaboration with Lily J. Ives. A total of 24 artworks in the show printed on metallic and lustre paper will be available for sale. The catalogue of her work Open Nightly, currently on sale at Dashwood Books, will also be available.
Liv Hoffman is a young photographer who grew up on the Bowery and started photography when she was 12 years old using a flip phone before buying her first digital camera in high school. Her work is deeply rooted in her neighborhood and documents a variety of themes such as graffiti, youth, friendship, homelessness, and urban decay. Her photos have been featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Outlaw Arts, Con Artist Collective, and MoMA PS1. In 2015, Liv Hoffman received a National Gold Key in the Scholastic Awards and was a merit winner in Youngarts. In September, she will attend the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago for her BFA in Photography.
