Parasol Projects is proud to present the third edition of its Pop-Up Shop Share Program with four New York City-based female designers:
Kelsy Parkhouse founded Carleen in May of 2012 after receiving positive reviews for her thesis collection at Pratt Institute where she also received the inaugural Liz Claiborne Concept to Product Award. Her founding collection drew inspiration from the handmade American quilt, a textile that continues to inform the Carleen aesthetic both visually and metaphorically. The line has enjoyed multiple mentions on Vogue.com, among other press.
Brooklyn Magazine says that Merica Lee Jeans "are some of the most highly-coveted jeans in NYC". The classic military wide leg, high waisted design looks good on everyone. This style is great for all shapes, sizes and genders. Take the hem up and wear them with sneakers. Let the hem out and wear them with gigantic platforms. Merica Lee Jeans are made in NYC from 14 oz. raw Japanese denim.
Norval Finkelstein is Eve Singer and Jill Galarneau, a textile designer and artist. Realizing the button-down shirt had replaced the tee shirt as their uniform they decided to bring their perspective and passion to this classic item.
Their basic white shirt is a blank canvas for a continually expanding collection of original prints. Their graphic, colorful designs are hand silk-screened on Japanese cotton in San Francisco and sewn in New York City. Due to hand-printing, each shirt is unique and is individually numbered.
